Fall in line

I have found myself trapped in a void of stagnancy
with no room for error, time is of the essence

I tread a unclear path without a plan
motionless in comparison
my peers have gone well on their way
to fulfilling the rest of their lives

I’m caught in a lapse of uncertainty
while others proceed to achieve their destiny

I’m longing for opportunity,
but effort has gone unrequited
I’m collapsing underneath the expectations of my kin

to abide to standards that i don’t agree with
I can’t find happiness in what they seek

Is falling in line worth my misery?
is there a point in even attempting?

This lack of progress, this stagnancy
leaves me discouraged with a sense of defeat
I have no intention of forfeiting,
but there’s only so much more that I have to give

My aspirations have given way, so i’ll hang my head and assume my place
I’m losing faith that something will ever become of this.
